Little Giant Heater Fixed

Well I had my buddies Union HVAC shop tear my little giant apart and fix it. Not a easy job like some people here say. Well there was a crack in the pipe. He said did not look like it was frozen. He fixed it. i watch him do it. What a POS these things are. There are held together by little screws and a thin piece of sheet metal. These things should not be in a mobile unit. Fooken garbage. This is a perfect example of buying into BOARD HYPE and guys trying to make a buck off us cleaners in the trenches. I have the most expensive Little Giant the 4 HT. For over two thousand bucks this thing is a piece of . Going to get on the phone with Yorkie time to drain the 401k and have him build me a Brand New Vortec.

Will a vortex fit in an ambulance? Maybe you just need a warm garage to keep it from freezing next time. I don't see how vibration can cause a pipe to split down the side.although I could see a pipe breaking at a fitting or where the threads are cut from vibration.

While it is true that there is a lot of sheet metal on the outside of the Little Giant,

it is built much better than the Paloma gas heater that was used before.

The copper coil is actually pretty rugged,

and usually withstands some freezing before actually leaking.

Overall, the #3HT has been more reliable than most oil-fired heaters on TM's.

Waldo,I can completely disassemble that thing down to nothing in less than 10 minutes. Problem is you hired a Union shop to do an easy job. They probably had 6 guys standing around telling one person how to do it. I'm glad I wont ever have to take mine apart though because I'm not dumb enough to let it freeze.

I agree about the pia shells on the Little Giants.
Hydramaster had the right idea or whoever made their heaters years ago.
They were enclosed in a insulated SS Housing that opened up with 3 latches.
I ran them for 20 years. You could open them up in 15 seconds.

Back in "the day" prior to heat exchange we melted down a couple Paloma's, the Little Giants are better if you're choosing propane. The better of two evils!! Always go heat Exchange!

Seems to be damp around the bottom of the heater. Both times when Ive been parked on steep drive ways. No clue whats going on. Seems fine on level ground.
