Long fuel hose run

I have a long fuel hose run from the filler tube to the carb. About 13-14 ft. Seems like it struggles at times. I would like to get a more powerful pump for a 27hp KAW. Any recommendations?

I was also thinking of maybe just adding another pump just before the carb to help pull the fuel up and installing a pressure regulator.

sounds like a lot of work for nothing!

Do you already have a small psi 12v pump on the fuel line? If so that is all you need.. Even with a hose run of that length.

Why do you have so much fuel line?

Of course I already have a small 12v pump on the fuel line. Reason why I have that length is because I have a wacky configuration on my rear mounted TM and waste tank.

I thought I solved my hot idle problem, but when I idle down after a job to cool everything off, I can see the fuel filter kinda starving for gas, causing the ruff idle at times. Seems the fuel pump heats up and struggles when hot, but creates very smooth idle when cold.

I don't think it is a fuel issue then. If it were you would have problems running at full tilt, not idle.

Maybe you just have a bad 12v pump.

You still in the mini van? IS it even 13 ft long? (jk) How could you have 13 ft of fuel line in a min van?

Are you sure its not getting enough fuel? It might be that its getting too much.
I have an old back-up unit with a 12 volt fuel pump without a pressure regulator to a carburetor engine. At an idle there is too much pressure from the pump so it tends to run rich and a little rough. I'm sure it only needed was a regulator but just put on a pump switch and turn it off during cool down. By the time the fuel bowl is empty it is cool. Just have to remember to turn the ignition switch off after it dies.

Lol, it's an extended mini, but the fuel line starts at the filler neck, is routed up and thru just behind the drivers seat, then loops straight back to the rear mounted TM.

I'm gonna try a new fuel pump this weekend.

I have the same engine and the filter will not be full of fuel. Only about 2/3's the way up the white filter. If the engine is surging you need to adjust the carb. If it is missing then you most likely have a problem in the electrical system.
