...and seeing nothing but beautiful carpet.

Trust me, this super old nylon looks ten shades brighter than before we cleaned. I was actually impressed myself when we walked in.

Just went back to do some upholstery that we didn't have time to do on the first visit.

I often get to see carpet s few days or a week after cleaning in my role as a carpet inspector (many times the carpet manufacturers require cleaning before they will let the inspector go out.)

I have been both surprised and disappointed in what I've seen. If I know the cleaner well enough I will call them with praise or tactful suggestions.

Take every opportunity to see your work a few days to a week later.

Good work Derek.
I particularly appreciate the opportunity to see upholstery a few days later, as with some of the fabric, you really do not know how they look once you're done.

Word of advice on upholstery..

Take the time to run the peice down with a cotton towle, especially the arms and head rest, if you ever plan to see it when dry..

...The final extraction step on natural fiber upholstery.

There is moisture absorbed into the fiber that will not vacuum out as readily as it will be with the use of absorbent towels.

And that moisture is full of residual soil, lignin ("the stuff that makes browning happen"), sizing ("the stuff that makes water stains happen") and detergent residues ("the stuff that also makes browning, bleeding, water stains and a feeling of stiffness happen").

Remove it, and everyone will be happy.

Nicely said Mike.

Jim, micro fibers like the one you cleaned last week, meed a towling more than any others imo..

Yes, both for soil and also "final grooming"...I find they are softer to the touch when finished with a towel.
