I like to track how many dollars per household in my market area we are generating.
Does anyone else here use this tool to measure market penetration?
Or does anyone use this to improve market penetration?

I take the demographics of the area I service for single family dwellings, say
for example 100,00 and divide my gross sales, say fore example 100,00. That
would mean I was grossing one dollar per household in my service area. As your
dollar amount grows or your service area grows you can tell what your revenue is
per household.

The whole reason I'm bringing this up is because I'm thinking of shrinking my service area.

Kind of like a pizza franchise, they have 15 or 20 locations in one city and each location is
responsible for maximizing their particular neighborhood or zip code. I used to have the mentality
that we would go anywhere there was money and dirt. Now I'm starting to think more about efficiency.
Its a hard call when somone calls from 40 miles away and you can do the job in 2 hours and make $400-
$500 but you have an hour and a half windshield time. So I would be better off working closer to the shop
for $125 an hour and being able to do more jobs. It exactly like that poll last week "one $400 job
or 4 $100 jobs".

How do you deal with customers that cleaning more than once a year ? Wouldn't that skew your data just a tad ? Just curious.
