Have a casino in Deadwood that has a Milliken carpet that they want cleaned. They don't want to void the warranty. Milliken's website pushes Capture cleaner. Can I encapsulate this with a Prochem ProCaps encapsulation machine from JonDon? Milliken can't seem to get back to me. Any ideas or suggestions? Thanks for any help!!! 8)

That's because Milliken is a printed carpet. I guess it protects them from cleaners that can cause it to bleed by using high alkalinity. I have cleaned them before. I would not use excessive heat.

Milliken can suggest and even imply that their carpet must be cleaned with their products. But they must allow other systems. Read the warranty carefully if it is available. Find out what would or would not void the warranty.

As mentioned, be careful of how aggressive you get on a printed carpet.

not all miliken carpets are printed.. (though in this case to be expected) they just really like pushing their capture system.

However, it is only a recommendation, not required for warranty. They only time warranty will come into play is A.. you cleaned it outside of the acceptable guidelines for a printed carpet..ie way to high of pH.. or the customer neglects cleaning and tries to say carpet is faulty.

Finally got an answer from a carpet retail store that sold the carpet to this casino. Here is what they said:

Regular Cleaning – Regular cleaning of the carpet is required to remove ground in soil and soil
that is bonded to the fiber. Milliken recommends hiring a MilliCare Textile and Carpet Care®
specialist for this purpose. Where customers choose not to use MilliCare or a MilliCare specialist is
not available in the area hot water extraction is recommended using the following procedures.
An appropriate pre-mist should be sprayed and brushed thoroughly into the carpet using a dual
cylindrical brush type scrubber and allowed to work for the recommended dwell time. This should
be followed by flushing with the Hot Water Extractor. For conditions where detergent residues are
left in the carpet a mild acid (5.0 pH) type pre-mist mixed per label directions with water should be
used. For greasy, oily soil conditions, a higher pH product (8.5 or 9.0 pH) mixed with water per label
directions should be used as the pre-mist. The Hot Water Extractor should be filled with plain hot tap
water containing 5.0 oz. of acid rinse/gallon in the tank at a temperature not to exceed 140° F. This
procedure should remove as much detergent residue, soil and/or debris as possible. The carpet
should be allowed to fully dry using blowers and fans and be examined for Wickback. (Wickback is
a condition where soil moves from the lower part of the fiber to the tips as the carpet dries). If
Wickback is evident, repeat the pre-mist extraction process and again allow the carpet to fully dry.
Re-check for Wickback and repeat above procedure until there is no evidence of Wickback. Once
restored, the carpet should then be thoroughly vacuumed, and spot cleaned on a regular frequency in
accordance with Milliken Approved Carpet Maintenance Procedures.
Milliken recommends the use of cleaning products that have been approved by the Carpet and Rug
Institute Seal of Approval. For a list of approved products visit www.carpet-rug.org.
Milliken recommends that customers use a hot water extraction unit that is approved under the
Carpet and Rug Institute Seal of Approval. For a list of approved extractors visit the above
referenced website.

Looks like they will accept encapsulation followed by hot water extraction. Thanks everyone for your help!! 8)
