I'm thinking of dumping the 2004 Vortex and getting a cargo van. The V rarely sees two wand use anymore and we need more mpg friendly/smaller vehicle for FPA work as well as long distance runs and mountain jobs.

  • Ease of oil changes for the blower and pump, none of this "oh just vacuum it out" BS..
  • The least amount of buttons and as idiot proof as possible
  • HX not fuel fired.
  • 200 ft run capable
  • Ford Transit Mid Roof friendly with fresh tank and loads of left over room in back.

Reliability is anyone's guess my guys hardly ever have a problem with my 405

My Titan is pretty idiot proof, indeed. But if you have an idiot using it, and he's cleaning wool rugs on site, make sure that he, not only turns the heat off on the rocker switch, but also turns the lever from hot to warm underneath the rocker switches. When I'm looking down at the truck mount, the lever can be hidden from the angle I'm looking at it.

As for oil changes, it's pretty simple. The blower might be considered the hardest to change, because it's at the bottom, and sometimes it's hard to drain out every drop of oil. But I'm thinking if I had it on top of a belly water tank, it would be much easier to drain the blower's oil and it'd be easier to see lever to turn the heat off.

In other words, my titan, I think is idiot proof. My idiotness has been prevented.

The 370, no brainer. Ditch the filter basket, put a jumbo panty hose on each blower filter (change out one a week). 200ft?, you're at 200 feet for 10-15 minutes then tear off in 25ft sections. The machine couldn't be easier to work on for fluids. That was easy.

It would depend on your budget. Your guys are used to the power. So a bigger machine might be what you need.
As for chimp friendly, my 22 year old son had no problem learning how to run the legend.
