and increase to 30 hg as I increase the rpms. could there be debris in vacuum tube to gauge? would sucking it out help?-- yes the filters are clean.

or does it need replacing? the RPM gauge doesn't work sometimes. is there a fix?

all the gauges are original 2004 vortex parts.

I've found new re-found Love playing in the "Boneyard":

My vortex is my new favorite again---I forgot how clean and dry it leaves the carpet-- so what if its not as comfortable to drive as my vans..

Prochem TI wand w Glide-- Why did I leave this wand for another wand? gets under furniture better then the EVO wand, and easy to use.

The HOSS--- Loved it on trashed out Residential job. I thought it would take longer to do a job with the HOSS-- but It didn't and my biceps loved the rest from the scrub wand.-- just wish it had a little more flow.

I even started carrying a V***** again-- I coded the word because I remember the last time I used that word--

The Zipper stays in the rug shop and I don't use it much on Res- jobs

Sounds like an obstruction but I don't know how a Ortega it plumbed. We used the drain auger you hook to a cordless drill before and had good success clearing the blockage. You may need to also work from the tank back to the vac inlet too.

How EVER as Ofer says.....that doesn't bother me. Besides I've stayed at the Holiday Inn before. :winky:

Check for a collapsed hose too.

Thanks Richard--- the tube is only about 1/4 inch ID-- maybe ill disconnect it and use a coat hanger-- and I'll also disconnect all the tubing to waste tank and see what I find.

We suck up rags or sometimes if they don't disconnect and start pulling hose in gravel l, twigs that will make a nice little dam in there.

yep- ive done that many times-- but the lint traps and blower filters are clean. I think some debris go into the vac tube to the gauge during the Rebuild by Areotech in 2010.?. My Vortex has been rarely used since the rebuild..? -- oh wait-- there is no filter on the knuckle valve!-- maybe something got sucked in from there!?

Does your gauge have a little rubber plug in the back or side? If it's a liquid-filled gauge the pressure inside the case can get out of whack and make the reading be way off. If it has the plug try prying it aside to vent the case to atmosphere, you're literally 'burping' it.

My suggestion is but one possibility. I have had a couple gauges that were corrected by 'burping', but none were quite that far off. It still could be a blockage or bad gauge.
