By a narrow margin the Mytee M5 along with a Studebaker Stryker beat out the further away truckmounts in the patented Harv Wheelrite Extraction Testing session.
Many other portables were used in the testing along with Hydromatser and SS trucmounts. The Rug Doctor, Steamon Deamon and Host machines participated as well.
Exact numbers to come.

The Mytee unit did win by a hair in the "soil extracted by weight" category.
However, in the "amount of moisture left" in the carpet that unit left 30% more moisture than the TM's did.
Mytee beat all of the Portables but just to be fair, keep in mind that all of the other Porty's were using 1.5" hose and wand.
Rug Doctor did well ( vs the Portables) in "moisture" left behind category.
But as expected they came in dead last for amount of soil removed.

John;

Good job on providing the portable victory.

Dirt removed is the ultimate goal.

You should have added the Air-Hog to compete against the TM's.

I think it would have been very close.

Did you try the 2" Bentley with the M-5 ?

Has anybody sent "NASA certified" video of the performance to CRI ??

Wait so 2" fittings and 2" hose make a difference? Huh!

Umm, yup, I tink so.

John, Larry is right - the addition of your Air Hog would have made it very close.
And doing so well on the most important item is nothing to sneeze at.

Larry, once the video is edited, I expect that the CRI will get a copy.

However the point of the exercise is to demonstrate that there are way too many variables for any single test to be proof of ANYTHING.

By changing the Tech or wand we saw huge differences in the results.
If we did the exact same tests on different carpet fibers, would the results be the same ?

I doubt it.

Hi Larry,

Actually, it was a 1005 not a M5. I didn't bring the Bentley for obvious reasons but I agree with you that had I used the Air Hog and the Bentley the results would have been better.

If the tech made such a difference . . . ,
then either the wand "down pressure" or "angle" had a large effect.

My supercalifragicexpialidocious acquaintance down the road will be overjoyed at the news.

Mr. Braun did not directly answer my question. But he did make these two brilliant statements – verbatim:

1) “Rug Doctor does pretty good.”

Adam Savage & Jamie Hyneman of Myth Buster fame, would be ecstatic at your unflawable testing and results.

Onya mate, power to the potties. shiteatinggrin

ooroo,

For students of the English language only -

While thinking of all the money that has probably rolled into Rug Docotr coffers, it does not surprise me to learn that although they were rpomoted as doing good, they did well.

A zipper would be a good way to eliminate the variance for down pressure and angle for these tests. Two zippers side by side would eliminate the speed variance, just leaving solution key times, which if you really wanted to get technical could be controlled with solution shut off valves controlled by a third party.
