Years ago we had dual 200 gallon wm pro 2000 tanks we had "acquired". I worked with that truck all summer and never again will I carry water. Too much weight to carry and valuable space taken up in the truck. I've never run into issues hooking to water.
That is amazing! I can't tell you how many empty homes we do that don't have water or even electricity, on board water has been a great advantage for us.

Putting my own together.. I have a liquid cooled 31 hp engine not being used.
31 would more than likely work, but it depends on the HP required for the pressure pump, and your RPM's for the blower, etc.

Do you have an exact plan for your setup, or are you still on paper?

Its a roots blower.. I figure the pump will take 3-5 hp. There is no exact plan, but wanted to go with a belt system.

If you go with a belt drive system, make sure you incorporate a tensioner pulley. I have that setup on my Truckmount, over-driving the blower, and get several hundred hours out of a single "B" belt drive. I got it from Motion Industries.

We do homes in a very exclusive area that is on top of a mountain, their wells are over 400 ft deep and cannot produce enough water for them to do their own laundry. It pays us to carry water.
If you work in extremely cold weather, do rentals etc. onboard water will save you more time that you can use to increase your business or take time off.

We carry 200. Saves a lot of time especially since we have zero lot line. Lots of homes have their water bib on the far side of the house. When the waters close and easy we fill it up. 200 gals is only .85. Some condos here have the outside water shut off, some don't have a hook up. Nothing like running a hose to the sink up to the 5 th floor. Their are no hills here and I don't drive far. The time saving is worth the extra wear and tear.
Wouldn't work with out the water ,electric reel or zipper. All great time savers.

Are you telling me you had 400 gallons of fresh water?

No, 200 fresh and 200 waste. No pump out. There were times that both were full. It was awful, I quit because of that nonsense.

First 30+ years, never carried water. Always tapped the custy. Last 2 years, 120 gallons, and I might add another 50 or so for the big jobs.

Once you've carried water, and use an APO, there's no turning back. Makes rentals soooo easy, I'm tempted to bring an easy chair just to watch.

I'm going to add a FW tank. I received my water softener and have that ready to go. Keeping it inside for now though so that it doesn't freeze. I think I'd like to upgrade my machine as well, but I want to get more out of this one first. I doubt I'd get much, if anything, in trade-in value.

It's personal preference. I never thought carrying water was a good idea. I always found a way to tap the custys water. When I bought the Thermalwave Vortec with 120 freshy, I thought I had gone to Heaven! Especially on the increasing rentals and commercial properties. I had transfered the Waterpond into the new Pro1200, and it's one of the best decisions I have made in this business.

I'll get to my custys house, and they'll say "the spigots over there". man, they're just thrilled that I'm not using their water or electric.....nothing. And it makes the day go so much easier and faster. And I know that I am using good water, not some stinky ass well water. I carry the water softner onboard incase I would need a top off.

Any suggestions on where I might purchase a FW tank? Brand?

I'll also be purchasing a Devastator if that helps with a supplier.

We only use auto fill and empty on our truckmounts and can't see us changing as never a problem finding the tap and the sewerage line.
But why not do this:
Instead of two tanks just have one with a bladder inside so as the fresh empties out space is made for the recovery?
Tennant used that system on a walk-behind and it made for a well balanced machine. I can't see why it wouldn't work on a bigger scale.

Our current set up carries 225 gal. It will get u through the day and I only have one restaurant that we sometimes have to get more. We usually do 2 restaurants per night and most often the 225 makes it through both. Water softener kept at shop so I get double duty from it. Customers love it when they tell you where the spigot is and you say we carry out own "softened" water.
Because of supply pump issues we had to hook up to customer supply to run direct for a couple weeks once...what s PITA that was

I doubt you could find a bladder that would hold up to the vacuum on a truck mount, especially an Aerotech;)
