Our factory Kohler rep brought by the new 1 liter engine Friday.

Since it has not been seen by many, I took a few pictures of it:

They think it will be a workhorse engine for the professional lawn care industry, which is pretty tough on engines.
A couple of notable improvements are:

~ 3 Quart Oil Capacity & Oil-Sentry
~ Oil Cooler (flywheel fan cooled)
~ Top Mounted Oil Filter drains before removal
~ 56 ft.lbs. of torque for #47 & #56 blowers
~ Increased time (200 hrs.) between oil & air filter service
~ 2- Barrel Carburetor
~ Exhaust design will capture more heat
~ Sturdy Engine Mounted Controls

Since it is for evaluation, what do you TM guys think about it ??

The top oil filter is nice for changes, but if it drains every time the engine is off and takes time to fill and get oil to the bearings I think the idea sucks. I'm hoping that this isn't the case...

Chuck;

Since the oil filter is the highest spot in the oiling passage, it does not lose as much oil as the low mounted filters do.

It should be quicker to build pressure after an oil change and most importantly, the changes are require less frequently (200 hrs on synthetic).

Greenie- the pricing is not fixed yet due to different packages, but will be in the mid $2K range.

Larry, are there any emissions standards that have to be met for this engine to be used in different states being it has a carb? Do you know if this is the same block used in the other motors or is it different?

Sweet!! 8) I am looking forward to see a few hooked to a 56 Blower. A cobb unit, a EZ, maybe one by oxley. It would be a waste of a good motor to put a 47 blower on it. Man nice engine, been hearing rumors and like I said SWEET.
