Tom Lape, Mohawk's Residential Flooring Business President, and Kemp Harr discuss the Federal Trade Commission's recent and rare decision to reclassify PTT fiber to a new generic polymer called Triexta. Listen to the interview to hear that this decision was based on the improved performance characteristics of Triexta, used for Sorona and Smartstrand carpet fiber, compared to traditional polyester. I was impressed that the FTC rarely ever approves a new category in carpet fiber. They must believe that it is different enough from polyester to call it something else.
To me that is good news.

Well they also have the PET which is the pop bottle polyester. This is the PTT. Then they also call polypropylene polyolefin.
