I wonder if the folks, assuming Chinese here, didn't understand the specs for the prototype
or whoever just designed it with a useless window.....which looks cool I guess if you don't know any better

The Thai contractor who built my Thai house failed to understand the importance of the P-trap design in sink drains. It would seem that they think its only purpose is to catch jewelry if needed, as there is a "cup" to serve this task but "No Airlock."
