I have one full time office employee to manage the phone, call backs, past customers, leads from home shows, mail outs, etc. I do 3 jobs a day and dedicate myself to the city I live in and the close surrounding areas. So driving is not a waste. My employee keeps me working through the marketing, advertisement and referral we provide. I don't leave "anything on the table" at any customers residence or place of business. They know I provide carpet, implant area rug cleaning, upholstery and leather, all hard surfaces and repair. So if they want any of those completed or any one they know they get 15% off. Some days I have 4 jobs and when I hit spring And fall hire partimer basically to manage my Porty as I am running 5 calls a day and every Saturday 9-12. My down time is December to February but the team I have of just 2.5 great workers keeps me working right thru but like I said this time of year, 1 morning, 1 mid day, I afternoon. I like the system and it's been very consistent. I have not had one person say leave when I show up with my tennant. They saw the work, I was honest with dry time but stainguard treatment was always included for me and odour control, chemical upgrades are great but my customers love that inclusion and don't mind handing me additional work while I am there. And yes I rambled on again hog jowl. Lol.

Relia- Built makes really good small truckmounts. You can get a brand new one with a 45 blower for around 8500-9500 without a heat exchanger.

We bought one about 4yrs ago and its a work horse, that truck has a #3 little giant. It came with a pre heater which gets the water up to about 130 before going into the little giant.

Its a simple design but a great machine, its busy doing jobs all day every day and never ever has any issues.

Personally I think its a way better option than buying a $5,000 portable

I hate to condem a whole country but what is wrong with Canuhhduhhians? It it the extreme cold? Too much snow? The French?

1) TM will be more productive
2) TM will allow faster dry times
3) TM will allow you to be more profitable per hour
4) TM will allow you to deliver a superior product

But why not fook around with a porty for another 9 years?

It's the cost. New TM with enough and hose and accessories will set you back $70-80 grand. Used machines will cost you in repairs and maintenance. Probably a lotta fear in making such a large purchase. You can get into a portable for $2000 and call yourself a carpet cleaner. What do the customers know anyway. Aside from Cleanco and a few small manufacturers, we don't have a lot of machines available. There are no reliability going from $8500-$9500 here. A legend will cost $25000 not including the extras.

He’s in Canada, so cold weather is a REAL consideration.

He’s in Canada and so is Cleanco...

I wouldn’t want to run a slide in in IA, let alone Canada.

Keep everything toasty warm and rely on a dependable van motor to drive the system.

You need to watch some of Saiger’s cold weather cleaning videos. Just subscribe to his YouTube channel and settle in for a while.

I’ve got a reliable Cleanco just sitting in my warm shop. 2009 Ford E250 with bigger 47 blower and Max Heat. Cleanco system was installed new in 2010.

It’s an absolute monster compared to the porty cleaning you’re accustomed to.

I say that with respect. Porty work is hard and you’ve paid your dues.

Come close to 20k and it could be yours.

You would need to cut a port hole in the door on my Cleanco if you want to really close it up tight while cleaning.

I’d highly recommend that, after experiencing the cold weather cleaning of my Butler with port hole this Winter.

Canada is no colder then the northern US states. If you and Mark can run without freezing, anyone here can do the same. I agree with not having a slide in in cold weather. Nice to button up the van when cleaning. Some guys never make the switch. Lot more hassle using a portable only but the money can be the same without that huge investment.

I’m landlocked in IA so it’s possible I clean in a colder climate than the Canadians living near a large body of water.

I wasn’t sure where he is in Canada.

I still don’t think I’d want a little slide in.

I wouldn’t want to be doing porty work up there either, let alone for 9 years.

I’ve been spoiled by using a truck mount since starting in ‘99 in NC though.

I have dabbled with the portys. I’ve bought 2 new Powerflites and sold both.

I really do respect the hard work you fellas put into this gig.

Portables are just another tool. Useful for where truckmounts cannot go. Lots of us started with portables. I don't miss those days of hauling them up flights of stairs. Where I am, probably 50 percent of my work is with a portable. Lots of highrise buildings. Just as there different size TMS, there lots of variations of portables. Most large metropolitan cities are the same.

If in cold

Consider a direct drive....

Or better keep your portable too.

Slide in during cold very difficult to run and keep from freezing up.

I couldn't survive in my Northern MN climates with a slide in

I don't have any experience with My tee other than the comments posted by others on this board. Some for/some agin.
I too ran portable equipment for years, and you need to be aware that going from porties to any kind of TM changes your maintenance and repairs from hundreds to thousands in most cases.
I think you are already understand that.

Who do you guys recommend for mytee dealer in Ontario, specifically around Toronto.
Most Mytee machines are not useable in Canada. Same with other American built portables. They often have one power cord that needs to be plugged into a 20 amp circuit. Very few places in Canada have 20 amps available and then it's usually a newer condo kitchen plug. I do like the Mytee speedster for design but you will need to custom order it for Canadian specs.
