OH....duh
STFU Marty

yea, CC'ing will be easier ...AND more profitable.
Cause I don't reckon installers make any more in NC than they do here....

I can’t believe how cheap they are here in Charlotte. I’m working harder & longer hours to make less installing here. It’s no wonder I had a heart attack 🤷‍♂️

Charlotte is definitely a great area to go high end. I'm in a part of N.C. where there is some high end but not enough to keep food on the table. I'm mostly in the middle to upper market. Lots of broke middle class people who bought more house than they can afford and won't pay $50 a room for cleaning. It's not easy work by any means but if you learn to schedule yourself so that you can work at a leisurely pace you'll be good. Good luck to Ya!
Thank you sir I appreciate your advice.

Thank you for the offer. It’s amazing how most of you cleaners are willing to help. It’s not like that on the installation side. Most installers won’t even talk to you. I never understood that. I’m always willing to share my knowledge with anyone that it would help. 🤷‍♂️ I have reached out to a few cleaners in NC hopefully I can get with them soon. Thanks again

I definitely like that idea. Hi- roller lol

I mentioned Pruitt because,
1.) he's a good honest man.
2.) Been on both sides of the tracks....in that he had a CC'ing (carpet cleaning) biz that ran with the "pack" ($30-$50 rm res, atps, restaurants, etc like most)
Left the biz for years, and got back in older and wiser with a different biz model and pricing.

If you're planing to put someone in the truck while you do sales, marketing and "business" stuff...that's one thing

BUTT..... if you're planning to be on the truck everyday making a good living, don't look at what "most" outfits are doing and price at....you don't want to compete in that market ...you're too old and beat-up to sustain that "production work" alone for years

Look to guys Like Pruitt, Ofer (ruff) , Ron and even that pissyazzhole Marty....ole fcks that primarily work along and get top tier pricing for their area

..cause you're gonna kill yourself trying to compete in the lower middle pricing market ...where most "new" O/ops start til they figure it out in a few years.....

Share with us what your goals are?
You plan to be on the truck everyday long term?....get a good wingman then

Where you gonna start and what contacts can you solicit ?
You must know a few carpet retailers..

and what was the bulk of your installs?
Bumping in empties/apts?
Miles of com?
A subcontractor for Home Depot, Lowes and carpet retailers ?

all of the above??

One thing to consider is if you live in an area where there are lots of tall office building or high-rise condo buildings, invest in low moisture equipment like cimex or orbital machines. Nothing better on cgd carpets when you can't get your tm anywhere near. Easy to use and easy to train someone. The other day I cleaned 30 hallways in aprox 6 hours. $1800 and never broke a sweat.

Hey Larry yes I plan on working my truck. I’ve been installing my whole life so I love being in the field, hands on. I am a high end Installer Specializing in pattern goods mostly wools & higer end Nylons from Karastan, Fabrica, Masland just to name a few. I spent my whole career in residential installations. Catering to clients that appreciate the difference of quality work rather then chasing empty work that doesn’t pay a whole lot. I never installed for any of the box stores. Started out with mom & pop locations then mostly my own clients, designers. I was able to keep busy by always doing quality work. I’m hoping to be able to do the same now on the cleaning end. Hopefully I can learn from some of you that are doing well & can show me the right way. If I can help any of you with any installation or repairs in any way please don’t hesitate to reach out to me. Im willing to share any of my installation experience with you all also. Thank you in advance for responding & helping me with your experience.

mostly my own clients, designers.
Add high end Vacation Rentals.
The Designers, Interior Decorators, Other flooring Contractors like Tile and stone...granite counter top fabricators you already know for a nice start.

You can make great money sealing new tile and grout etc, in new construction...50 cents to a dollar a sq. ft. Ceramic tile vs. travertine. More for showers, back splashes and counter tops etc. Also- Protecting brand new furniture and rugs for your Designer friends is great money. 3 or 4 hundred an hour. This is money you can make without putting hours on the new truck mount.

Learn upholstery and rug cleaning. I recommend Pemberton's School when you are ready for that type of cleaning.

You already know the people who will refer you to the high end folks. You want to work for them as much as you can because they are cleaning as maintenance not as restoration.
These Customers will require minty fresh breath and lots of patience...but it will be worth it.

Best wisdom I received 15 yrs ago from Hogjowl over BBQ at lunch was.....

Brad you don't want to clean every carpet in Chattanooga!!

Uh Y Martay??

Cause you won't make money with every job you can get. Nimrod

It took a few months to realize what he was talking about. I gradually did cost living raises and dumped the sh!t work or they dumped me.

Takes time to build residential when your not a lowballer. But you work less and make more.

I have learned alot from several here and have a few great friends too.

Mike You will recognize me. Still bald but gray beard and fatter. For some reason I keep aging. Ya nose wat eye mean??
Just listen for Fensterfooker. LOL
