Notch your Devastator and Prochem wands if you want to switch your carpet and hard surface Glides back and forth.

The Delrin plastic we use for the hard surface Glides is brittle and can crack if you use too much leverage to pry in either direction.

You can use a Makita cutting wheel or a hand file to easily cut a notch in the splash guard/ wing on these wands.

Sapphire and Evolution wands are not an issue, nor will the upcoming AW29.

If my carpet glide is Tom's version is a set-screw needed after the head is notched?

Not necessarily.

If the carpet glide is loose, you can always put it in the bench vise every once in awhile that tighten it up a bit
Or spend 12 bucks on Amazon and get a quarter 20 tapper and a set screw

The brush glide on my 12” Dev wand is great. I did two bathrooms and about 1500 sf after my turbo swivel crapped out on me. For what it’s worth I’m gonna notch my wand for sure. The swivel is pretty dope around toilets and baseboards.
Word of advice though. Pay your invoice promptly. Mikey was about to put a lien on my barn.
