I’m happy to announce that we have very successfully replicated the Orbot bearing assembly, and counterweight assembly (since they have been out of production for an EXTENDED time, and many customers have been needing them). We work with an amazingly great machinist! If you need ‘em we got ‘em.

What's usually causing them to fail?

Juice in the bearing?

Bearings on all orbital machines fail over time. Moisture may be a contributing factor. But the bigger issue is that there's a tremendous amount of force that's exerted on the bearing as the machine oscillates. It's kind of a normal wear-and-tear point on any orbital machine.

Do the TOPS bearing fail even faster?

We haven't sold near as many TOPS machines as Orbots, so I can't assess how the bearing wear compares. Although I assume they would be similar.

Did sales trends switch up when Orbots exceeded the TOPS in price?

Orbot sales have always been steady, trending upward year by year (till this year when their supply dried up). There doesn't seem to be any correlation to what TOPS is doing / at least none that I've been able to detect. It seems like each company is attracting a different buyer. The TOPS customer wants a truck, whereas the Vibe customer wants a sports car. Different approach. Both are good! It's like Apple vs Android. There's a place in the market for both.
