Has anyone had a chance to compare the Orbot vs the Brute as far as cleaning ability and speed of cleaning?
Is the Brute a more aggressive machine?

Are there any OP cleaners on this board who use OP as there main cleaning tool ?

Is the tip blooming an issue of the past with the newer pads ?

I haven't had a chance to demo an Orbot but I've heard from more than one person they're good little units. Well worth a look... I know Richard Chvez has 2 & he's been pleased with them.

Personally, I have a 17" Brute & a 17" CX17. They're both over 5 years old and practically identical. With the new towels and a lil' bit of common sense tip blooming isn't an issue on cut pile. The gladiator pads are the ticket for residential but for commercial I prefer thinner more agressive pads.

I do roughly 80% of my work load (other than hard surface) with OP... The rest is contracted to be steamed every so often and the occasional resi or upholstery job that demands steam cleaning either by the scenario or customer preference.

I have both the Orbot and Brute. The Brute is more aggressive, heavier and uglier than the Orbot. The Brute is built like a tank and will clean faster than the Orbot on really trashed CGD. Having said that, I like using the Orbot and cannot see much difference on medium soiled CGD. I use it primarily on accounts scheduled for regular monthly cleanings. It also looks way cooler. John G will soon unveil his latest greatest machine that is supposed to take pad cleaning to a new level.

OP has been my main cleaning method for 6 or 7 yrs with limited HWE via portables. I recently ordered one of Bob Savage's machine and will be offering a dual method process. I love padcapping commercial and will continue with that method but on residential I like pre-scrub/HWE/Post pad process. I wouldn't go so far as to say tipbloom is a thing of the past but pads have gotten much better. The Gladiator pads CCS offers are a 50/50 poly/cotton blend and work excellent.

Thanks Charlie, let us know how you like your new Savage beast. When will you be getting it?

I should have it by the end of the month/first of next. Give me a few weeks to set it up in my truck and give it a good test run and I'll post my first impressions along with some pics.

That sounds great. I'm looking foward to see how you like it. Did you get the one with 2 vacs or 1?

I'm getting the Extreme Beast with 2 vacs. I can't wait to add serious heat to my cleaning. I don't know any inside scoop on John's new project other than what I've read on the blue board. Very hush hush. I keep hoping he'll bring a prototype over and test it out on some of my commercials but he hasn't taken me up on my offers.

Please do post pictures and your honest evaluations of the unit from time to time. The Savage unit looks to be a great unit to complement OP cleaning. You could easily fit a savage unit in a extended van with room to spare for a few VLM units. That appeals to me.

I definitely think the average price of truck mounts (that are actually selling) is going to be in that $10,000 to $15,000 range for years to come. The Savage unit, the Nordic, and the Judson TNT are going to have a 3-4 year run that could very well make them top choices for years to come.

Times like this always spur a drive for better, cheaper, faster. Lower operating costs and ZERO tolerance for long term debt (so you can survive the off season every year) is the new focus in this industry. Those in denial will perish and be run over.

Buy the way Charlie, WELCOME TO THE BOARD, and congratulations on the new Savage unit.

Thanks Randy.
For whatever reason when I was researching the Savage I found very few photos so I'll make it a point to show as much of the unit as I can and also post my evaluation of it. I've been a low moisture guy for 10 yrs so this is a whole new direction for me. I'll be hanging around here quite alot in the future. Lots of good info!
