Anyone buy their product in bulk? I've been told that if you purchase enough chems, you will get a 'pallet discount'. I know it's like shopping @ Costco, spend a lot, and get ALOT.......

Purposely no. I hate to see thousands of dollars tied up in chems I don't need at the moment. The savings isn't worth it to me. I'd much rather buy only what I need for the month.
I'm being offered a savings of almost $600... Ya, I'll take that deal...

My pale of flex with last me three months...wish I had the volume to be purchasing by the pallet. Or you could be like that Orange company here and become a distributor of Bridge Point products but don't sell to anyone EXCEPT your franchise owners under his name at a marked up price. The kicker is that he gets a website link from the whole deal from bridge point...

Depends on how fast you use the product and how long it sits.... We would order pallets of UltraDry in 5gallon pails... It'd last us 5-6 years... Shipping was around 3k for 6-7 pallets... We've ran low now and I'm trying to find alternatives to ordering and having product sit long... But we still have the mentality of better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it....

If you go to the bridge point website under the distributor information he used to be listed as a distributor in Canada. And he got a link for it.
The URL is no longer working. It used to list distributors. I went through his backlinks long time ago...

I get that.

However if I have to tie up several thousand for several months to save $600.00 I'd still much rather have the cash.
I will go through those chems in 4-5 months..... I've saved myself 3-4 pails by going this way.... It's like getting another 3-5 weeks of chems for free..... I don't know, the less I spend on this end, the more I make on that end...... That's my logic anyway....

We have many customers who order in pallet quantities.

The discount you receive must be balanced against the time you take to use the product.

1% a month is a good estimate of the carrying cost for a product.

So if you get a 10% discount for purchasing a six month supply,

it will cost you ~3.5% to stock it for that length of time (each month you have less in stock).

So, actually, you will save 6.5% by buying a 6 month supply.

Also, shop around for comparable products to get the best value.

Sometimes a 10% discount is on an overpriced product to begin with.

Ask the vendor for a quote on items you use in quantity.

I understand.

For me labor is my biggest expense. I need to keep an eye on it, doing what I can to allow them to be productive and efficient.

Chems are low on the list of cost of goods sold. Yes I want a good deal but not to the point I would buy 6 months worth at a time.

But if it works for you, by all means do it.

I've tried buying in bulk and so far for me it hasn't worked very well. I have about 6 gallons of 5 year old Masterblend Allergy stuff--only have used about half of what was ordered so far. I also have lots of other chemicals bought in bulk that just haven't been used as quickly as I thought they would. I'm with the Desk Jockey on this one.

We order shipping and furniture plastic in 3,000 pound lots. It requires a chunk of cash, but it doesn't go bad and costs about 35% of retail. We'll do the same with a few chemicals, but mostly just buy what we need from distributors.

Many distributors will give you "pallet load" pricing by adding all of your purchases together for a discount, or give you better pricing based on the volume of dollars you spend with them, so you might save some money without tying up bulk cash in a bulk purchase of one item.

All the product I ordered is my day to day chems...... 5 pails of this, 4 pails of that, 2 cases of something, 4 cases of so and so etc..... It's not like I ordered 18 pails of the same shyte...... Now I just have to go to the shop @ 5 tomorrow morning, and put it all away...... AND, as a bonus, they gave me 3 gal. of new products to try...... I got ALOT of cleaning to do..... See you in 6 months.......
