I've never done a whole lot of repair work, I usually sub it out. Are there any contraptions that make for a quick, professional looking patch? I remember these round, cookie cutter deals that are made for small patches but I've only used them a couple times and don't own one. Should I get one? Is there something better? Continue to sub out? What do you think?

The Kool Glide Pro is a very helpful tool for doing patches or inserts. http://interlinksupply.com/index.php?item_num=AK086A

Consider a class before you take on the repairs. The class will allow you to make inserts and other repairs on several styles of carpet in the class. Then you can decide if this is something you want to take on. Steve Andrews and Barry Costa are two excellent instructors for this service. You can check here for schedule of classes. http://interlinksupply.com/interlink_ed_sched.php?location=WHOUSE
