Do your clients mind you putting door hangers on there neighbors door? I dont think I would mind, but I could see where it could offend some. We have never done it.

I get a kick out of people that get offended by salespeople and advertising.
How do they think they are living the American dream without either? Salespeople and advertising drive the economy. Believe it!
Tell them that you would like to put out a big full page ad but you would have to charge them more to pay for it. (i gotta tell people about what I do and use the most cost effective way of doing it.

Nothing like coming home from vacation, or a long weekend and finding a door hanger on my front door to alert the criminal element.
