I collected and cleaned two beige polyester long haired rugs.

The first one cleaned up beautifully and dried to a creamy beige color. The second when it dried has a greyish tinge to it. They where both cleaned with the same shampoo and I didnt notice a difference in shade before.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Could be the gray one had more soil to begin with and some residue is still present. Could be that lubricant from the manufacturing process has wicked to the surface.

Try a little spotter on a towel and see if you get any color transfer or if the spot you work on looks brighter. If so it needs another cleaning.

If there is no change it might be that the grayer rug was always grayer, but the difference was nullified by soil. Put them face down side by side and see if there is the same color difference from the back side, which would indicate they were always a different color.

Good luck and let us know what you find.
