Joe started cleaning carpets and did what most guys did, look at the competition. He started cleaning for 9.95 a room and tried to make a go of that with out the B&S.
After getting very tired of it, he asked a wealthy busnman if he knew of something Joe could get into to make money. They guy asked him if there were other cleaners making money. Joe answered yes. The guy said then that there is nothing wrong with the busn, just the way Joe was approaching it. This lead Joe to start researching marketing. He took his busn from nada to making almost or over $100000/yr, one truck. Then he realized he could sell the info. And there was a long learning curve in that to. People would buy his plan, but not follow "everything" that he did, and when it didn't work they bad mouthed him. Same with Amway. Not many actually did what it took and when it failed, they weren't honest enough to say, "THEY" failed at it because they skipped steps.
My busn was going no where fast. I answered a one page typed ad in Cleanfax back in 97. That changed the course of my busn. I didn't do everything he said so I haven't the huge success story other's have claimed but the few things I did do set me apart from everyone else in my area to the point now where I honestly feel I have no competition. I have colleagues that I can refer to for help and budget cleaners that I refer when I'm not the right choice for a customer.
I figure this industry would not be where it is today had Joe not come on the scene, followed by Howard, and
SFS and others. Joe started teaching about "business" and making money. There are probably many of us using his methods and don't even realize it because they have gotten so common place now.
If you don't want to go to his, or Howard's, functions, don't go. Delete his messages and move on.
