Pressure/solution Pump of choice

What is the best pump out there, ie performance, reliability, longevity and ease of repair?

Also, where is the best placement of the pressure bypass?
Back to just before the pump? back to the fresh water tank?

I've been extremely pleased with my General.. Over 1000 hours and not a single hiccup.. I run my bypass back to the inlet of the pump in a long loop. You could run it to the water tank depending on how the rest of the unit is set up.

My 1986 Ballweber is still running the original Cat pump.

Can't beat it for longevity.

Top end was rebuilt around the 5000 hour mark.

The unloader/bypass goes back to the pump inlet side in a long loop- about 30 inches, as I recall.

The Cat 290 will go about 9,000 hours before needing a rebuild, but it won't work with the current chemical injection systems. We've decided to go to the General Emperor HTX models after discussion with others in the industry, and so far our oldest has just under 2,000 hours.

Having to rebuild a pump at 1,500 hours or less should not be accepted as normal.

We like the new Emperor by General pump.

It has high-temp run-dry PTFE plunger seals and hi-temp check valves.

Prochem, a long-time Cat pump user, has tested and specified them on some of their new TM designs.
