Anyone have a system for determining price for stain removal? I want to come up with a better consistent system for giving a custy the price on stains. Folks sometimes balk at the thought of an hourly fee.
Anyone?

I guess I will keep doing what I'm doing. I don't like ambiguity. Seems like the biggest fights are standardization and making processes measurable. I guess in this case time may be the best measuring tool irrespective of how comfy a customer is with not knowing beforehand.

Simplify it .. if you need to collect $120 an hour for cleaning then you should be collecting $2 a minute for specialty stain removal .. easily explained to customers .. Ive never had a problem .. its the most fair way to determine cost .. much better than saying," badda bing badda bang uhh - I gotta get $20 bucks for that lady." .. which might come out in a 3 minute process ..

I always tell my clients (particularly when I'm doing dye repair) that they will get a much better deal if I charge by the time. And it is true.

X amount for the first half hour and a little less for each half hour since the overhead of traveling is already covered.

That is provided your minimum charge has been covered.

The hardest part of trying to establish basic rates is some spots are going to use up more of your spotting solutions. These should not be lumped in or you'll end up losing a larger percent of your profit for the ease of pricing.

I have a line item as H&K stain removal. Hands & Knees plus product used, is fair to you and the customer. Rarely have to bill this way, but do on occasion.

I have a minimum call out for my carpet cleaning.

i also have minimum fallout for spot & / or stain removal which is half as much again.

I have a minimum charge of one hour, then fifteen minute increments.

If I'm doing carpets, then I will charge accordingly for specialised stain removal for every fifteen minutes at the above price.
