Hey guys, I have purchased a Prochem Blazer, used with aprox 11 hours and it seems like it is bypassing way too much water from the temperature control valve to the waste tank. I took the valve apart and cleaned it and changed the o ring but it just pours out causing low heat and filling the waste tank prematurely. Is it just a manual valve or is there an electric solenoid controlling the bypass?

Did you pull out that little screw inside the valve? I think it's a very small allen head.

No, I will take a look tomorrow. Today I gave up, standing in the pouring rain. Last month, it rained 28 days out of 31. It's Nov 5, now and we are 5 days of rain already.

It says in manual 145 degree temp relief valve is used.

Your manual bypass valve could be leaking to.

There's usually a blue skinny hose connected to the waste tank that goes to the by bypass valve.

Open tank and see if the water is coming from there or the water box has that 145 degree valve and a whitish hose also bypassing into the tank.

Which ever one is flowing that's your problem.

Picture of what you took apart

The temp solenoid on a 405 is electric the top piece has wires on it if working correctly you can turn the key to the in position and turn your temp control dial and here it click as it moves.

I had to clean mine out it was not closing.

Not sure if they're the same.

The 145 degree relief valve on the water box is fine. It is leaking on the manual bypass. There are no wires attached, so it looks to be completely manual. Opening the valve, you get full stream of water going to the waste tank, closing it reduces the stream but doesn't stop it altogether. I bypassed it back to the water box for now, I'll have to get a new one from Prochem it looks like.

I over tightened mine because my tech thinks tighter is better and caused it to leak.

I just tell him never touch it.

When new, when it stops turning you have to stop turning it. Anything more dents the brass.

Cranking it down will eventually stop the leak. Just replace with stainless if possible.

I'll pick up the part and replace it. I agree, the stainless is best. For now, I put a o1 jet on the end of the by pass hose and stuck it in the water box. The heat is pretty good now. Have to go through all the maintenance items and bring it up to par. This is just a back up unit for when my other unit is in for repairs, which is now. I am enjoying learning the idiosyncrasies of a heat exchange machine. I have to say, the vacuum is amazing for such a small blower. I was running 250 feet of hose and the wand was sticking pretty good.

I have always liked Prochem, lack the funds to buy a new one but I like this little one so far. If it works out, I may consider ungrading to a legend or a peak. The Apex just seems a little large for me. I have a local friend who bought a new legend and he just loves it. For the majority of the work we do, we don't need anything more powerful.

The Everest is the gold standard in slide ins. Just a little too big for me. They had a demo at our local Prochem Dealer at their cad and it was awesome to use. With a single 2 inch wand we are running the machine on low with 100 ft of hose and you still have to work to move the wand. Great heat as well. If you can afford it and like the larger vehicles, The Everest is the way to go every time. For a single wand guy doing residential and light commercial, you can't go wrong with a Legend. Yes, it is air cooled but with the right maintenance, those engines last forever. Good heat, without any extra fuel, tapped into the trucks gas tank. Can be installed in a smaller van. I wonder if Prochem has any openings for a salesman.

The Blazer's and newer legend GT are as basic as it gets for a HX unit. They don't have a diverter system for the HX. Just the manual valve to crack open to lower the heat and the 145 degree safety on the water box. I think you can add another heat coil to the Blazer XL
that will give it 3 instead of 2. The water won't get much hotter but you will have more of it.

The Blazer gets HOT. I've had mine to a rolling boil in the water box. That exhaust manifold will get bright red if you are doing commercial carpet and keep the wand on the ground !!! Only problem is that the heat will dry out the belts. I had to changed mine every 300-500 hrs. The Gates Green Power Rated belts were the best
