Prochem Legend water pressure issue

Been working in this unit for about 2 weeks. Playing around with it to get it ready to clean mainly residential carpets. Went to clean some tile with it today and pressure will not go over 600 psi. I set it at 700 - 1100 at 100 intervals and at all settings it went back down to 600 when the trigger was pulled. When set at 600, it goes down to 500.

Could it be:

pump seals
heat exchanger
pressure regulator
??

The machine is about 7 - 8 yrs old with 1700 hours on it. No fresh water tank and water softener has not been hooked up.

Try checking the air pressure in your neighbors front right tire

If that doesn't fix it.........Buy a A-TECH :p

pressure regulator

So, do I buy a new one and install it? Are there adjustments that can be made?

Come to think of it, my AT drops about 100-150 psi when triggered. Are they the same thing?

Would my heat exchanger on the legend be restricting my pressure to 600? Very strange how it goes to 600 at each interval.

Harper, go chain smoke a pack of cigs.......try to do it in an hour and call me.

HEY BoZo...."my little buddy"..

Was the pressure guage bouncing at 600 psi...or steady :?:
When increased the pressure to 700 psi ect........
Did it hold the pressure for a second....Then "unload" it ..... to 600psi..& held steady :?:

BTW this unit is a Prochem Lengend......Cat 3cp pump.....

I will have to investigate that, don't remember. It seemed like it was pretty steady. It did NOT bounce back to set pressure.

AS slow as your REPLY.....I'll go through 2 packs

If the pump only has 1700 hrs.....I doubt you need a re-build....

Probably just a dry or bad O-ring in pressure unloader :?:

If you are NICE :?: Maybe Jim will come back show you a picture how to re-build it 8)

CLICK-CLICK .............smoke-em if you got-em

Sorry but I don't have one......for $25/30 bucks I just replace the thing and don't worry about it anymore....

most of them are just not worth the hassle of a rebuild.........

pressure regulator was good and not mushroomed.

Bypass valve to the water box plugged, shoot, what's the name a that thing, sorry been four years since i had mine. That will make it do some odd sheet, check it out, located on the right side, under a one inch plug, use an allen wrench to get it out, start the machine up for a sec to blow the gunk out, and blow through the tiny bypass, and look to be sure it's clear before replacing.

maybe.

put a 2.5" elbow on the top of dump tank lid. Didn't seem to make much of a difference. A fly on the wall told me to cap this off, not sure how.

Good idea JB, we may not have those down south here. No reason to "winterize".

Thanks. Too bad flys are good for nothing....
