Last month we posted the results of testing a variety of carpet protectors supplied by Bridgewater ("Bridgepoint/Interlink"), and Cobb Supply.

A few people contributed their thoughts and questions, but I'd like to know how the group as a whole who were at MFE/The Experience, and who looked at the post feel about the test results and report.

It was good to hear that not all protectors are created equal and each has its own purpose such as faster drying, better soil protection or acid dye blockers. Not all carpets, budgets and environments are created equal so different protectors can be useful for certain situations.

So does that mean you will be carrying at least 3 different protectors in the van?

No, but I will have 3 protectors in my garage to choose from as we grow. As of now, I only carry and offer maxim off the van. The issue is solvent protectors dry faster and products like scotchgard are not only cheaper but all some carpets need. Please correct me if I'm wrong as I am new to using carpet protectors.

I don't think your wrong, I was just being sarcastic but it does seem to me if we are really want to have the customer's best interest at heart all three are needed. I don't have room in the van for that.

Larry,
Many guys here love your protector and I too plan on giving it a shot.
Does your protector contain acid dye blockers?
Is your protector one that will "bead up" spills?
Do you recommend using a respirator while applying?
Why is it better than others?

We have solvent-based and water-based protectors.
Our solvent-based product is our premium protector used by many rug cleaners and protection-only applicators.
It provides the best beading . . . and hold-out for stains (carpet and tile/grout).
Our water-based Ultraseal 5-1 is available with acid dye blocker. (it was not tested in the MF test program).
Since both protectors are fluorochemicals, we recommend a respirator .
Test results after blotting with tissue on several different fabrics:
