we are thinking about buying an ozone machine...i really dont know much about them other than the basics....so i have some questions for the board

1. is there a specific brand to buy....is one brand better than the other....and if so what makes it better than the other brands?

2. are there different sizes?...what would be a medium sized one to get?

3. what would be a fair price for a new ozone machine....and a used one?
if anyone is selling a nice used unit let me know please!

4. one brand that we are looking into is a Total Zone (a TZ-2)...Jon Don sells this particular model...anyone use this exact unit before...and what is your feedback?

5. we would want to use this unit in some houses and rental properties to reduce and or eliminte urine and nicotine/cigarette smells...how effective are these units after the carpets have been cleaned and deodorized/disinfected with urine, cigarette, and musty smells?

6. what are some tips when using one of these machines.....like what makes the use of an ozone machine more effective?

any input and or feedback would be appreciated....thank you!

Go to www.sonozaire.com. I own a 115A which works great, but they now have a model called 5G which is lighter/smaller and kicks out over 3 times as much ozone, that will be my next one. I use it for heavy smoke and curry odor for apartment and rental homes. Mine was over $800 5 years ago and I heard the 5G is around $1300 (I may be wrong), but it's worth it.

I bought the Totalzone 2 from Jon Don. The reason I chose it was the output and also that it is less prone to break than other models.
I try to specialize in rentals and it saves the day on smoke and cooking/curry odors. Unfortunately it is about useless for urine. I dont think it penetrates the pad.
I use to be able to rent one from distributor for $35 a day. One day they didn't have one and he let me use the $4200 super unit from drieaz. I fixed the cigarette odor in the house and since it was sunday I put it in a 10x12 bedroom with urine and closed the door setting it for about 10 times the recomended dose. It still didn't work on urine.

You can start off with the smaller TZ if you want, you will just have to leave it a little longer,as far as urine,it will knock out the odor for a short period of time.but you must remove the odor source to be effective.I always see the small TZ's on ebay for about 4-500 and the g's refer to how many grams per hour it will put out.

That looks interesting Greg. Be perfect for a home with people with allergies and sensitivities.

I don't think it would replace an ozone machine, esp considering the applications we use them in. Might be just the machine to install after an ozone machine

Hey Bill,

Did you buy one of their machines? Wondering if you've got any news to report?

Thanks,

Adding an Ozone machine is a smart idea. It might not pay for its self right away . I charge 95.00 per day and customers ask for ozone by name.

Just research it well as this is dangerous and can kill.

I have the US Products Ozone machine I bought it used on ebay for $250 but I think the sell for around $900.

It worked great when me and AL rented it for one of his jobs so when I found one on EBAY after we had used it I jumped on it for $250.(I had rented one for $200 the week before I found this one) We put all of the wood items into a POD and set the timer and left. (US Products Version has a timer) The next day all the wood smelled like brand new fresh pine.
It's small, compact and it is roto-molded which seems to be very durable.

I also have the US Products Air Scrubber(Big one larger then a Phoenix 200ht) I don't know the specific model but it has been one of the best investments yet. I purchased new for $1800. The first job I rented it out on was for 47 days at $137 a day.(Insurance Job and the IH gave written proto-call that said it had to be on the job until 3 days after it was sealed, insurance adjuster dragged his feet but I didn't mind because I was making $137 for everyday that he held things up...lol) I've put it on every flood job that I have been on since I purchased the Air Scrubber and I have yet to have one adjuster contest paying for it or even mention anything negative. I have made over $10,000 with it since I purchased it in March. Best ROI yet. When the customers and adjusters see it is very impressive, They know you are serious about what you do.

US Products make some of the highest quality products on the market. I have been more then happy with all of the US Products equipment that I have purchased.

there's all these Alpine O3generators on ebay. I remember them from years ago. Seen some in Vegas casinos, smelled them at least. When I was asking about the safety of them I was basically told, Ozone in, living things OUT! Since O3 oxidizes organic matter, WE are organic matter!!
