Raising your rates, do you tell your customer?

We start using our new rates today, it is just a 2 cent per square foot increase.

We normally would not, it's only an additional $12.00 for a 600 sq/ft job.

What would you do?

Just show them the invoice before you start cleaning. No need to explain anything unless they ask.

When I moved up from a .10 to a .50/sq ft cleaner about 10 years back, I did it mostly in .10/sq ft jumps. Some customers objected, but I said take it or leave it. I lost the cheap customers in a hurry, but made it up with better paying ones.
