I'm in the process of rebuilding my old back-up unit and want to replace the rear oil seal on the engine. I removed the 4 bolts holding the closure plate and it will move about an 1/8th inch and spin around but it won't come off any further. What am I missing? This is an old cast iron air cooled engine Model K582.

I found out your not suppose to remove the closure plate to replace the oil seal. Just remove the seal from the outside and replace with new one. I hope the gasket behind the plate is okay. I'll work in some gasket sealer and tighten it down.
