Just for you @Jim Pemberton, We have black widows and rattlesnakes. This 22lbs 7' long rattlesnake was found at the Redding power plant.

I may appreciate them for the part they play in the ecosystem and not fear them myself, but I also understand that they can kill you and note that people who try to catch or kill them are the most common victims.

I think this shot makes the snake look bigger than it is, but even a small one can kill you or cause you massive medical bills and a lot of pain.

    Be careful around them.

    And hornet's nests

And a lot of people too....

??? Did you do some digging? I got that off the local Redding FB group. It was listed as the Redding power plant.

They had a news article on the radio the other day where a man cut the head off of a rattler with a shovel. Then picked the head up and was bite by it. He got so much venom in him that he had to take a massive dose of anti-venom just from the head.

    Dipshit!

i caught and killed one at 17yrs old. theyre fun too clean and watch them move around without a head and skin.

yea the guy that got bit was a moron most who deal with snakes around here definitely know stay away from a freshly severed head. also juvenile rattlers dont have as much control so they tend to inject more venom as well.

Bury the head or put a large rock on it. Make sure to flip large rocks first or you could have a busy and exciting day.
