Rough Draft 55+ Community Monthly Newsletter

I just reviewed the "THE VERY ROUGH DRAFT OF MY DISPLAY AD" post and didnt want to hijack it. I found Dave Yoakum's response very easy to understand. It insipered me to put words to paper (MS WORD...lol). I have a December 8th deadline to get back into a 55+ Community's Monthly Newsletter. Until 2004, this community has been golden to me. It runs monthly and full page costs $80/mo. Prepay for 12 months and it's $72/mo. It covers approx. 660 homes. I can change the ads as I wish. I want to run something like this for January and February. What you think?

Who can you trust when your floors need cleaning? (Headline, state a problem)

Throughout my childhood, I remember my Nana, at times, needing work done in her home. There was never a doubt on who to call for any problem she may have had. If she didn’t already know who to call, she asked a friend. These service professionals were well respected and trusted to do a job right and at a reasonable price. I don’t know why, but those types of people are hard to find.

My name is Marc Imbesi and I have built my floor cleaning and repair business based on these simple, “old fashioned” values. I am the owner and operator of Flooring Solutions. I will be the person to answer your call, show up to give you a firm price quote and arrive to complete the work. And, when I am finished, you will be so relieved to know you can always count on me, you will want to tell your friends.

So, if you look down on your floors, and see a problem, please trust that I am the professional to call!

why wouldn't you send a postcard or your newsletter for $110-200 each quarter?

Marty,

Because that $110-200 doesnt benefit THEIR community! That $72/mo. sure does. These 55+ Communities really do patronize their advertisers.

So take that, Crowley!

I am sorry to make a suggestion. Only thing missing in your last name pronunciation is L

more people would read your postcard than their journal of the soon to be dead. You have not researched your target audience

Greg you're off-base on this one. These 55+ communities - or whatever they are called in a particular area - really are communities. The residents have an incredible affinity for all that happens within their little world. That newsletter probably has a 100% readership rate and will stay in the home until the next one arrives. Where as a postcard will typically receive one reading and go into the trash if the timing isn't just right. You really have to understand these types of communities. If a service provider can make inroads, these places can be a gold mine. As with most things, the toughest part is the first few sales.

I agree. We've had mixed results with community newsletters but people do read them, and IMHO, in senior communities especially. It's an efficient and cost-effective way to talk to a community with a message tailored just for them. They'll intentionally set it aside so it doesn't get lost in the barrage of daily junk mail. And, at least in the newletters we've used, it's not difficult to make your ad stand out.

Here's a twist in a pdQ senior's postcard,

I do several 55+ communities and they have used people who have taken out ads and got ripped off, so they go by word of mouth. If you get one home and do a great job, chit chat and are clean and nice your phone will ring off the hook.

Unfortunately Mark you don't pay attention. I see a ton of benefit in BNI I also can see a dead group and a waste of time when I see one and time is $$$. I still have a BNI membership just not that group.

All I was suggesting is sending your own cheaper or better ad.

why don't you just foe me and you don't even have to read my posts

Damn, I gotta start using wayne.
Dude, email me and we will talk.

Marc,
When I started reading it I thought it was cheesy as all hell.
Then I tried looking at it from a "Seniors" point of view and I thought, yea it could work.
Check your grammer, try not to be condescending...not sure you were or not and maybe be a little less wordy. Gram would have fallen asleep before she got to the specials.

Email me wayne. lol
I like the sample you posted.
