Thanks

what other industries use them?

CleanEvolve's "rug pressure washing" thread sparked an idea.

Why not pressure wash the rug fiber face down over the grid, then turn it over and wand rinse/extract.
The airspace underneath would allow airflow thru the rug for a a easy thorough extract

maybe a guy that set up for production could go after the "low" end (poly/olefin acrylic) rug market.

I'll call it "Cap's Hacks SpeedyCleen Rug Wash"
Specializing in Home Depot/Lowes type poly/olefin, acrylic rug sets

I'm half serious

Larry that does not work all the time . Pressure washing is not the same as pit washing and a good rinsing. Trust me I did try that I still do pressure wash some things BUT after it has been rinsed thoroughly. The construction of the rug has so much ti do with a proper cleaning. Simple way to put Dusty always show Iranians washing rugs in a river. :D

Larry;

We have always used stainless steel for the grids to wash rugs.

The galvanized types will rust.

I saw some used SS grids a few weeks ago.

How big a grid do you need ?

Thanks all

Thanks Larry, I don't "need" any right now.
Just kicking around the idea of "econo-rug" washing.
Something between full blow pit washing and simply wanding on-site as we do now.

Though an "econo-pit" doesn't look like it would be terribly hard to make with PVC pipe and heavy mil plastic
(or even pool liner material)

I don't have the room for anything permanent and can't afford to pay rent on a suitable facility otherwise.
So anything I make/use needs to be "tear down and storage" friendly

I like that idea. It would be nice to have something you can pull out on the driveway to keep the rugs off the concrete and let the dirty water run away freely. For some guys who do very little rug washing, but want to be a little more thorough than just wanding it, it may be a great option. The pressure washing thing really worked well, it would have worked way better on one of those grids.

Some guys were wondering how I got $1,100 for cleaning a 6'x8' rug... What I meant was that she paid $1,100 for the rug when she purchased it... if I got that kind of cash, i'd build a rug shop asap. I got paid $230, but that was for 2 rugs and they had some dog urine issues... that's why I had thought pressure washing would be a quick and easy way to flush them out... and it was.
