Hang on
Somebody will think of one
Or two

I wouldn't want to disappoint Marty, so here are two reasons to be careful:

(1) If its a slide in unit that uses heat exchangers for heat, there is usually a "bypass orifice" is easily clogged. Some acid "rinses" are actually acid detergents that have surfactants, polymers to resist resoiling and wicking, etc. These materials could clog the orifice and other screens and filters in your system.

(2)The other issue concerns the action of acids when heated. Some acid rinses or detergents become more corrosive when heated, and aren't meant to run hot through heat exchangers, burner coils, etc. That's not an issue with "last step chemical injection", but can be if you run the product through your entire system.

I would talk to the manufacturer of your machine, and the manufacturer of your rinse of choice to get a clear answer on this.

There's a reason they put it in and call it the "Last Step" chemical injection system. Compare it to the pressure washing setup. Their chemical feeds are after the water has fed through the water pump also. Quit making this complicated

I'v done it for years. Tank, to cat pump, to burner. Acid and alk. No issues except once when I couldn't remember if I added it or not so I added another 3 cups or whatever it was. Basically had descaler. Turned water bluish green. Probably from the copper and brass plumbing.

If you run an acid rinse in your truck and then walk off freshly cleaned carpet on to a high polished marble floor

guess what can happen

Your rinse should be neutral to slightly alkaline. Any powders must be completely dissolved prior to adding to the tank. Mix with hot water and stir until completely dissolved.
Thanks, Ron! I remember having a great conversation with you on alkaline rinse in Phoenix. Which one do you recommend as a liquid?

yes, an acid rinse is excellent to run through a TM. Why doesnt everyone do it?
I wasnt serious and have to agree with Jim. Actually thought it was a stupid idea until several said they have done it. Thought the pig would give me another Idiot rating....

It’s only stupid if the machine design or chemical formulation or both in combination create an issue.

I’m just the guy who sees what happens in our service department.

Talk to the guys who make your machine and who make the stuff you turn through it.
