I was wondering what is the most effective for scrubbing prespray, the various colored pads like white, red, or black, or just a plain ole shampoo brush on a 175??

from my experience with a Cimex, i would say pad > brush.

better / fuller contact with a pad. but i prefer a green-striped or, for CGD, a brown-striped Tuway.

VCT pads can be far more aggressive (depending on color) than any brush

Black is too aggressive IMO.
i used one once on restoration/salvage berber rag.
I came right off the VCT I was stripping and rolled right onto the rag.
It worked killer...but I'd never use something that aggressive on anything that wasn't already "lost".
red pads are generally as aggressive as we go

Agreed. Red pads for commercial-USED- red pads, and brush for residential, or longer pile. The brush digs a lot more crap outta the deeper pile too.

For a 175, pad brush combo.
You can use a dirt napper or make one from a shampoo brush by cutting out the center bristels and screwing on plastic cut round to fit and sticking on some velcro.
