I have a customer that spilled water based acrylic paint on a inexpensive silk rug. They unfortunately attempted to clean it themselves with resolve and who knows what else.

They did some minor pile damage from scrubbing and a bit of color loss. but its not terribly noticeably from a walking prospective.

Any suggestions?

Is that dark color run from their spotting attempt? They screwed the texture up, doubtful you'll ever be able to correct that 100% too.

Might be a good time to buy a new rug especially if it was cheap.

the dark color is the remainder of the paint. Colors of the rug did not bleed.

tag on the rug suggested retail 200.00 its a 5x7 so not a expensive rug. I did tell her better to replace and there was almost no hope of correcting it but she told me to take a shot at it so. she will likely will get back a clean stained rug :-)

If it were more expensive then it would be cost effective for you to continue to work with and try to improve it but for $200.00 she might use this at the back door or in the garage and just buy new. :winky:
