Well, in the latest Cleanfax, CRI is defending its SOA program saying ALL questions that have been asked have been answered. Oh really??!!
What about the difference between wands. No answer.
The effectiveness of the "soil" and the XRF testing ability to read real soil cleaning, which we discussed on here; Not answered
How can a Rug Dr be certified when it will never see a certified technician? No answer.
The last question is really interesting since Mr Braun said QUOTE The Seal of Approval program recognizes that even the best piece of equipment will likely not be as effective in the hands of an untrained technician. UNQUOTE They shoot themselves nicely in the foot, pretty much taking the entire foot off!

Mr Braun also attributes the "better cleaning standards" to the SOA. Hec, the "better" cleaners didn't need the SOA, and the ones that did need it are still doing substandard work only now they do it with "approved" equipment.

What does it really take for these .... people to actually LISTEN to carpet cleaners?
They must make a crap load of money off this to push it so strongly.

They certify machines based on their closest competitors. A rug doctor would have never went up against a TM, instead they would have compared it to bissels and similar machines.

I didn't know it was still active. Hadn't heard anything about it since it was launched.

preachin to the choir here when we should be trying reach & teach the congregation?
How about putting our money where our mouth is in matching their expenditures in reaching Sally Soccer mom?
How bout shoestring videos comparing performance of various equipment (except w/o the cynicism at the end)?
How bout real efforts toward boycotting those who say if you can't beat em join em.
How bout burning our energy writing our own message on turf Sally will read?
How bout containing that energy til we come up with somethin that actually works?

Thats what I've been trying to do Joe, ever since I got connected with Piranha Marketing and I accepted the idea of infomarketing to potential clients. The challenge is reaching enough people to counteract the garbage that is put out by the "leaders" in our own industry, the companies that seem to do the worst work are the ones that do the most marketing so their message is what people see the most, and you have companies like Citruso and Sears putting out ads that say they do this phenomenal work at budget prices and that they are "approved" and they only do half the work, but the carpet "looks" clean.

its one thing to promote your own busn with good info, its another to have to fight the garbage put out by "associations" that are claiming to "promote" better cleaning.
