planning on re insulating my truck before winter hits... :dejection:

curious if any of you have ever had your box trucks done?

Currently just have the factory stuff from AT which is only a 4r value in the roof and 7 everywhere else except for the rear doors that I did last year 12 R

Or would anyone recommend just staying with the rigid type insulation?

thanks!

I've thought about it, I would think it would be much faster and seal up much tighter. You'd just have to make sure you'd never need to get into it for any wiring or anything like that.

Dustin are you thinking a pro or do it yourself?

Actually turns out a good old friend is a spray tech so I'll get the ins and outs on it. Hopefully today.

Reading on it sounds like 3" is r20! Prefect for the roof.

Our lease agent's brother has a sprayfoam business. I've been needing him to do the store room in our basement. This thread reminds me we still need to get that done before winter. I wish I'd have had it done back when the home was built.

Let me know how it goes, we could only do the walls, our roofs are translucent on the boxes. :icon_neutral:

r7 per inch. Tech said its between 2.5- 3" overall

Considering there was allot of equipment in the way they did a pretty good job

Truck definitely isnt fully insulated where I want it yet but getting closer

I'm not thrilled with the look, wish it were smoother but that R-value has to help and it's the best way to insulate tough areas. It should even help with deadening sound too. :icon_cool:

If they are able to do a box with nothing inside it looks allot smoother. The product is heated and sprays out around 1300 psi from 12 to 18" away.
So for a tight area it turned out well.

It's either yellow, white or purple. The underside of the truck was done in yellow and I don't for it.

I'll probably be sanding a few areas down, like about the recovery tanks.

Just under $4/sq. A comparable sheet of 3" r18 is $80 (4x 8 )....but the time plus you simply won't get the same results.

I agree it would be difficult to do once the unit is in and the truck is setup. It will serve its purpose and it's just insulation so it really should matter what it looks like.

Hit - 2 c. Last night and took note of how often the heater ran. Well under half the time it would usually run for :)

Couple areas need more insulation but getting there. I made a r12 piece to slide into where the pto belts come through the floor (for when not in use of course)

Also put reflective r7 behind my chem rack

You need to make yourself a warning hangar for reminder purposes to hang on you pto switch every time you use that insulating board for the belts.

Just a little bit of a reminder on a day you might be in a hurry will save you a mess on the inside of the truck.

Very good idea on the insulating block for the belts for sure.

Thank you. It slides snugly under the cover as well

Two soft bristle push brooms mounted under that open area, interlocking with each other, allowing the belts to slide between them, keeping the chill out.
This will also cut down on belt dust.

Will be doing this with my V, will post pictures :)
