So whats the science behind the placement?

Some makers put them on the tank, some on the hose from the blower to the tank.

If your blowers' filters get all clogged up how will that effect either design?

I would think the best place for the relief valve would be best placed as close to the blower as possible with no filters between it and the blower.

It is a safety devise and if you have a filter between the valve and the blower that clogs then you can starve the blower of air.

Scott is Correct !!

The vac relief is to protect the blower, regardless of what some manufacturers do.

Mount it as close to the blower as possible.

If you can come out of the blower with an aluminum T, with horz. T portion screwed in vac, other end to waste tank, and other with vac relief.
You can make a vac. relief valve fairly simple and set it via your panel guage...Richard R.
