stair tool modification

I have a swivel head stair tool. The trigger and valve is junk.

Has anyone replace the trigger assembly with a floor tool assembly? If so what did you use.

why?

I've been doing it that way for 15 years.
Then detail when needed with a hand tool.

as far as changing to a different valve, depends on the valve hanger as to how easy or difficult it will be, Vin

I normally trigger with my left hand when I use my ti wand on the stairs, and this creates a strain on my left deltoid. This is why it is very helpful to do weight work throughout the work season. I will go into a gym once or twice a week if there is a layover between jobs and purchase a daily pass as most gyms offer this for $10. Simple military presses will help alleviate the brunt of the shoulder strain.

nah, not really.
The biggest draw back of using the wand is in tight spaces like at the bottom step if close to a wall and right angle landings.

Some basement steps and older homes have a height clearance problem where the wand can't be used right for a couple steps.
Every now and then, we run into a place where the wand can't be used at all be cause of height clearance, but that's rare.

Vincent, there is wrap around bolt on hanger that will make it easy as pie to mount a feather touch valve on your stair tool.

And for the guys who are still using an original prochem valve, you have no idea what you are missing, convert it over, you'll never look back, and rebuilds are only $10.

Flex hose, a glide, and the feathertouch are the hallmark of the hack stair cleaner, nothing like 018 flow to get a flight clean in a jiffy.

Its really enjoyable on curved stairwells or stairwells with limited overhead height, or limited space at the bottom. I see no reason to NOT carry a stairwand.

Sorry, I gotta agree with Vincent. Couldn't imagine hacking up a stairway with a floor wand.

I will do large commercial stairwells (straight) with a floor wand, but that is it. Residential, give me a break, I would laff you all the way to the bottom when your just half way....and your shoulders are burning.

I have, and still do use the floor wand on stairs. It might be due to the fact that I DON'T have a stair wand, and a 4" detail tool takes too damn long to use. The detail tool is also more work, so using the floor wand makes sense.
