Had a guv-urn-mint carpet job to do last week-end.

Checked out their lunch room and found these tiles.

Made of a very firm synthetic material, not sure what it is.

Extremely soiled, Manager said it was carpet tiles & could I clean them. :toofunny:

I explained to her that they were not carpet & yes I could clean them.

Went back tonight with my CRB, water only, and they came up a treat.

Water was blacker than the inside of the bat-cave on a moonless night.

Can someone tell this bloke from the sticks what they are??

Please??

Thanks all............. BUT............

These are NOT a fibre, they are a very hard surface where one is unable to remove a fibre to do a burn test.

I've not seen anything like this before.

It is very similar to an old vinyl/asbestos tile of the late fifties, but with a floating/uneven "imitation weave" on the surface.

Each tile is one colour, they range from an off -white + two shades of grey + a black tile, they are also very glossy.

Having this uneven "weave", is where the dirt congregates.

The dark mark on the bottom right of the four tiles, is not soiling, but a reflective shadow from trying to get a decent photo.

Mopping them has had no decent effect which is why I decided to use the CRB.

When I get some spare time,, I'll chase down some carpet/flooring stores to try and find out more in my little village.

Thanks Mikey, checked out the "Plynyl" website & that seems to fit the bill.

I wonder if Marty :marty: has this gear down south.

But he won't read this far.

Thanks everyone, yeah Scott, :winky: even you.

Just got home to find an email from the above guv-urn-mint client.

Hi Shorty,

Thank you very much, the kitchen and our office carpets looks fantastic! You’ve done
a great job.

Once our Accounts team sets you up as a vendor, we will process the invoice for
payment.

Thanks again Shorty, have a great day.
Tae

Yes shorty plinyl. It is woven vinyl. I did many rugs made of this. It comes in tiles and rolls. CLEAN it like vinyl. It does have a backing I'm not crazy about. I seen dog urine could bring that black backing to the surface. It is like a rubber somewhat cushion

Think Ron & Harry are on the money. Looks like woven vinyl that we did a while back made by Bolon Swedish company.
Email me and I can send you PDF of cleaning instructions

Thanks Harry, that's what I figured, so I cleaned it using a CRB machine, (rather than the Sprayborg), so that I was able to scrub and extract soiled slurry immediately.

The way you describe it is how I found it, these were tiles, not rolls, and I was unable to lift to check the backing.

I did notice though that the concrete slab was not entirely level as the water kept running to one side.

The staff were very happy with the end result.

Being on the fourth floor of a guv-urn-mint office, where access is only via a swipe card, I don't see animal problems there. :winky:

Thanks again.
