What do you look for in your supplier's website ? What attracts you to it ? What could more suppliers do better with their website that would make you want to purchase from it.

I know I've gone to some websites and they're a complete clustered mess, and I just get annoyed and close out the window. What bugs you ?

In no particular order:

Easy to find what I'm looking for (menu tree on the left, search, etc.)
easy to order/checkout
shipping cost preview (without having to fill out all my info just to see if shipping is reasonable)
reasonable color scheme (ever try to read cyan text on a yellow background?)
accepts both CC and Paypal - my choice
product pictures
correct spelling/grammar
no broken links, database errors, script errors, etc. - everything works
ability to browse products without having to enter personal data like zip code first...

Steven,
Easy to find things, simplicity, not cluttered!!!!
These are the most important, everything else is much less important.

The search feature should have a way to get to the same product through different definitions, keywords and logic.

For example: If I am searching for a natural enzyme, I should be able to get there if I type: urine, Urine damage, pet problems, odor removal, odor, etc.

Also, I find 'busy' sites very distracting. The less that is constantly happening, the better.

Jon Don and Interlink sites are very good. John's, Cobb's- not very good.

No need to reinvent the wheel. Just look at good sites, how clean they are and the structure and logic they use.

I just ordered some Red Vanish and Rocket neutral prespray at VacAway. Theirs is a great simple site. No filling out forms, no passwards. Just put what you want in the shopping cart and go right to PayPal. Free shipping at $150. Quick and easy.

Steven;

We have been working hard to improve our new website.

It is always a work in progress.

I have been adding photos of lots of parts to the site.

Adding search terms is another item we are working on.

Thanks,

Larry

Anyone order from catalogs and rely on part numbers to search for ?
Steven,

When I order from Dultmeier, you just about have to search by part number. It's hard to find stuff on the website otherwise. Having their printed catalog helps a lot.

Trust me if I had half their money I'd have a site like theirs. We are trying.

John, if I were you I would take off the flash of your logo on the front page. It's a little too big and takes away from what you are trying to sell. Your main logo at the top is perfect. I like how you have everything listed down the side as well...easy to find.

Needs to be an up to date looking site. Correct grammar. No pictures of some ditsy blond in high heels using the equipment your trying to sell. PRICES listed without making me jump through hoops to get them.

What is wrong with pictures of "some ditsy blond ".
I like a site where the shipping costs are easy to find. A site that makes it too hard to find the shipping costs or want to know everything about me is probably charging too much.

I watched a square stripper demo a while back and some chick in 4 inch high heels was trying to use it. She could barely walk. If I want to watch porn I'll watch, if I want to look at equipment let someone demo it that can walk correctly.

fast
easy
prices
sale and clearance section
fast easy search feature

I don't browse too many disty sites, cause i know what I want and how to get in contact with them
However, i browse and buy from many on-line shooting/sports suppliers
Brownell's site is the most cumbersome for me to navigate .
Cabela's isn't far behind
MidwayUSA is the most user friendly to me.
Brownell's and Cabela's has lost many sales from me due to Midway's much easier set up

get rid of the big ass logo

I concur.

But I do like how the links on the left side look. It's a little cleaner.

How do you NOT know that the logo in the middle of the page is too big?
Come on Hoody, you should know better.

And the photos of the products need to be centered in each column. It looks like they are falling and unorganized.
The descriptions should be at the bottom with the same amount of space alloted for each and the photos should be even with each other from column to column.

I know its too big. The software we're using for the store doesn't allow me to remove that image. Its in the javascript(.js) file that I can't edit unfortunately.

The site looks good so far just a few more tweaks "as if there never is any to be made"

I like the site overall and will be checking it out later on. the logo is way tooo big. Bring up the products into view after the logos fixed. I am not sure about you guys but I loathe big pictures when I accidently hover over an image. my two cents
