Chenille is not a fiber, it's a yarn/fabric style, so that 9% is probably rayon and the reason for a cautious cleaning code.

These manufactures keep coming up with new names for rayon/viscose to try and fool people. Now this?

I've actually seen a good number of 100% polyester upholstery have a "S" code. Just the manufacturer trying to cover their butts.
