I know a few large companies here that are afraid to implement there drug testing programs as they know many staff will fail and can't be replaced.

But they're running the gauntlet because if there is a serious accident then testing becomes mandatory by labour dept and the whole company can be shut down if a positive is returned

it's a stupid policy .
the one drug that causes the most pain, suffering and tragic accidents than all the other drugs combined doesn't bar you from a job .
That drug is alcohol

peoples is stoopit

nevertheless, being subject to random drug tests are a requirement on 2/3rds of the jobs we do.
No felony convictions either ...doesn't matter if it was a stupid kid mistake 10-20 or 30 years ago and they've been a choir boy since
that's dumb too

My brothers and I helped my dad clean a factory in Coldwater MI in the 60's. In turn dad helped me on my business in the beginning of the 70's.

My three youngest carried on, and at least two of my grandson's are great cleaners.

I try to help them make fewer of the mistakes I made.

There is a lot of truth to that.

My father started in business because his one full time and two part time jobs still couldn't support three kids and work options for my mother weren't many. His drive was survival every day.

I don't know that I'd have had his courage to do what he did.

No, let me rephrase that: I wouldn't have had his courage or drive.
