Why hasn't Google developed an on line phone directory yet?

I think they're already smoking the YP. People don't look businesses up in the YP by name, they look up the category and the city. Google's Local Results take care of that. Unfortunately, unlike YP, being on the third page of Google isn't worth much.

My Yellow Pages rep now calls from "Yellow Pages Google". They have had some affiliation for a couple of months now.

This will move you up on your own computer, but it won't affect the general rankings. I thought I was doing a lot better than I was, but if you clear your cache you will get a more accurate picture.
