US Products has a new Laminar air flow aluminum wand.
They say this wand picks up more water off the carpet than all other wands.
My concern is this. They show their wand with a glide up against many other wands with no glides. All the glide manufactures say that having a glide picks up more moisture off the carpets. Seems like an unfair comparison.
What do you think? US Products has a new video out on this smooth flowing wand.

Another question is why don't we see an all stainless steel wand with this "Laminar" air flow technology? The wands we have now are 90 degree angles and lots of turbulent air flow. Even the after market auto parts have Laminar cold air intake. Exhaust header are mandrel bent for smooth air flow. Etc Etc for examples.

Gary this is old news.

I tried the new age wand out and found it amaturish .
Perfect for portable owners but not for a TM.

Plastic head.....good grief!

Gary;

Yes, it does have the "glide" advantage.

Not all wands have 90° angles where the head joins the tube.

In order to get a smooth bend, it must be a casting. Mandrel bend is done with tubing, not wand heads.

TM Wand airflow has improved, but still has improvements that can be made.

I viewed the video and saw a wand that had a white glide on it that looked like the green glide.

The test they show DOES NOT show a before and after of
dirty carpet being cleaned.

If this is how tests are done...........I have to question all
the data as being accurate. In fact field testing is best in my opinion

Wrong as I could be, but I really was not impressed with the video.

One plus is that the wand is said to be only 6 pounds.

I emailed them about the glided new wand vs non glided metal wands
Response:

Hello Ron,
My name is Michael Genteman and I designed and developed the Evolution wand.
Thanks for you comments.
When I started this project I had 13 different stainless wands that I had purchased for developing a accurate profile of what was available and how they performed.
I built a automated testing platform that mimics the CRI testing methodology.
All wands were tested without glides and then again with glides. I tested both holes and slotted glides.
All of the wands tested worse (amount of water left in carpet) with the glides in place.
They all leaked so badly that they did not work as well as a naked wand.
After taping them shut on the leaking surfaces they did only slightly better than without.

I also tested the EVO wand with slots and holes glide configurations.
The holed glide performed only 1.2% better than the slotted glide so it is pretty much a wash between the 2 styles.
The EVO wand was averaged at leaving 3.79 ounces of liquid per square yard of carpet.
The best performing stainless wand was 8.1 ounces per square yard.
The 2x performance increase has everything to do with the smooth rotomolded head and it's laminar flow design.
My glide designs on the EVO wand are integral to the head with little if any vacuum leakage.
I hope you get your hands on one and try it.
It really makes a huge difference if you push one all day long.

We are working on a 2" tube 15" wide wand as we speak.
It will kick some butt on a truck mount system I am sure.

Anyway all the patent stuff gives me a headache and I choose not to let it cloud my design opportunities.
I will let the lawyers slug it out and continue to make tools that hopefully will make your job easier with better cleaning and faster dry times.
All the best,

We have been testing both holed and slotted wand glides on our Evolution wand body. The shape of the wand is the real difference as both styles when tested result in a very similar moisture residual weight. We have a slotted glide that will be available very soon.

Just got a Revolution after years of stainless s bent wands and there is a dramatic difference in the recovery of moisture from the carpet, I did notice a significant decrease in dry time. I appreciate the light weight and easy to use design.
