It never ceases to amaze me the balls on these guys.

I'll try to keep this short.

I set up an ad on a major online advertiser for one area of mine.

After doing it myself, it wouldn't take...gliche of some sort wouldn't process the paid part...but the free listing was still there.

So I call them up, speak with a (what seemed like) a really cool guy...not typical...or so I thought.

Anyway, went through the ins and outs and it came down to the end and payment was due.
He THEN tells me there is a 12 month contract.

OK, me no want contract ugh.
"Sorry, we have to do a contract"

So the price is really low and I think it's a good deal...I'm no stranger to contracts and he wasn't budging..."not his fault".
Not a huge deal as I know the performance of the ad from past experiences. Worth it IMO.

Next day he calls and says..."your other ad went through, you need to cancel that so you can go with me"
But the one I did on my own did not have a contract.
You wouldn't believe the sales crap that started coming out of his mouth.
"yeah but with me you have me and I can help you and if you ever need anything yada yada yada."

Here's the kicker...he calls me back later and says ...if you go with me, it will be exactly the same except I will be your rep.
I said "well the ad I set up didn't have a contract...will I have to sign a contract with you?"

He says....watch for the quote

"Oh, it's the contract thing that's holding you back?"

YES....HELLO!!!

The same except I get to be in a contract for 12 month ?? Yippee.

I said, what would you do? laughing just a little.

I could hear him slither away as he said "well if there is anything else I can do for you..."

Amazing.

By the way...by the time he called me back I could see that my ad was showing number one on his site and number 3 in another area....bigger area....and his site is showing as number one in the big city....have you figured out the advertiser...Fred?

I get 5 cities with my ad and the website hits have been hitting more since I did it....I get alerts.

I need to check and see where they are coming from...to be continued.

I did a superpages ad years ago when I had never heard of them.

Lately they are running neck and neck with Angieslist on the TV commercial and that cannot be a bad thing. lol

Angieslist is putting us over the top now...hoping for the same on Superpages.

Since I've decided to hold off on the free ads and let others do the work....it's been working out well.

Superpages was really good when I started using them about 10 years ago or so.
They seem to be getting up there in the searches so I thought "what the hell" and signed up again.
We'll see what happens.
I've been on their free listings for a while already.
