I don't understand air watts. I always figured air watts was a term made up by the electroweenie guys to draw attention away from CFM's.

You should see the vacuums in the vacuum BUILDING in a nuclear plant. That would settle the who has the biggest, once and for all. They provide negative pressure to the entire bulding.

You know, I'm always a little disappointed when I look into the specs on these new motors. If you look at the typical operating point, at, say, 0.625" effective orifice, and compare with the venerable 116765 5.7" motor, the improvement is a little less spectacular:

116765 5.7" lift - 82inw flow - 44cfm
122176 8.4" lift - 99inw flow - 48cfm

an improvement to be sure, but not even close to double or anything like that....

The big deal for porty manufacturers is the efficiency I suppose, the 8.4 motor does it on 11.8 amps vs the older motor which needs 12.9.

There - that should draw Larry out into the open :winky:

You guys need to pay attention to real advancements in our industry !

We pioneered the 1st 8.4" vacs a year and a half ago in an electric TM.

That unit has 17" hg of lift and now has 1500 hrs on the original vacs.

Now to Dave's post . . .

571/432 AirWatts is a 32% increase in vacuum and on less current.

That IS a big improvement.

And the improvement is larger when in a series configuration (~55%) .

I have 8.4's in my Techno Viking. These are the older ones but I only have 350 hours on these.

I have only had 5.7's in another portable so can't compare.

Really? Unless you use portables or an ETM ......who really gives a rats ass.

Good for the porty crowd to have something that will improve their suck, they need it!

However its nothing that affects us at all. :icon_neutral:

The crowd here is well aware that in the prairies, where Chavez Resto resides and watches the grass grow, a building that is taller than one storey draws an awe struck crowd and is considered to be a highrise.
And after they're done watching the highrise, they go to watch the other wonder- the only traffic light in town :winky:

Why do you have them Ashley?
I was beefing up some Mytee portables I bought to flip, and found a killer deal on 7 motors, Cheaper than I could buy the 4 I needed.

I thought about building a Lectro-Mount for the fun of it, But just don't have the time.

BTW, After I pimped out those mytees with these vacs, I was seriously impressed.

Someone with an older #4 Butler or a Machine with a 36 blower wouldn't be able to tell the diff. at the end of the wand.

Heck, someone with a Vortex with 600ft of hose out, would appreciate the Vac of these motors with only 50/75ft of 2"
