Today while cleaning I walked out into the driveway and saw my van engulfed in white smoke, or so I thought. My mind immediately went to work trying to figure out what I was seeing.
Was I seeing smoke? Nope, it did smell like it. Was it Steam? Yes. Was my apo not working and the water was shooting out the blower exhaust? Nope.
Thats when I tasted the sweet taste of antifreeze in the air. It turned out there is a coolant pipe located under the exhaust manifold. This pipe is capped off with a rubber cap held on by a hose clamp. This rubber cap had become cooked and brittle and decided to give up the fight. The antifreeze burst through and was spraying directly onto the hot exhaust manifold.
It made quite the mess and I lost all my antifreeze, but the 870 is repaired and refilled with coolant.
