I'm going to be doing some tile and grout work. Just wondering your thoughts.

1) what angle jets do you guys usually run on your spinner/hand tool?

2) Do you usually always go with an acid and the neutralize it or do you try to just with your alkaline? I have viper venom and viper renew.

I'm cleaning in locker rooms/restrooms. The tile is fine. The grout is what's bad.

110 degree fan jet......stainless "Meg jet" size 0502 equals 2.2 gem @ 1000 psi. Always start with a high pH alkaline base cleaner and if necessary eg. Grout still looks dingy / stained use the acid cleaners usually at 1:4 (32oz. Per gl) and agitated immediately after applying to the grout with a grout brush or 175 rpm floor machine outfitted with a staggered stiff bristle brush. Most restrooms will require both alkaline followed by acid cleaning especially for hard water scale build up under the sinks and toilets. If you use the acid cleaner throughout the complete floor / grout make sure to neutralize the grout back to normal pH by a final alkaline rinse and extract.

Stock jetting is fine. Why do you want to mess with them?

Alkaline always goes first. Acid is dangerous and should be the last resort. Just enough glazed porcelain tiles are acid sensitive so always test first. Put a few drops in a corner and let sit for 20 minutes while you set up.

I've been called out to estimate or clean many locker/ gym baths before. Everyone of them was toast and they were looking for a cheap fix. Don't promise anything other than the floor will pass the white sock test.

Most likely you'll have lots of efflorescence and mineral deposits to deal with. Don't be surprised if you have to use a razor blade or chisel to get the build up off. Acid and a steel grout brush will help some.

Bring a 175 and a black pad or Malgrit brush if you have it.

Post some photos if you can

It will be a learning experience if nothing else.

I love the Renew and Venom combo, and use it quite often actually, but you always want to start with the venom first. Just make sure that you do small sections at a time. You do not want the venom to dry on the tile, otherwise you will have to re spray and scrub it. Ask me how I know lol...

Thanks. Sounds like I'm going in the right direct. I have a steamer that I have been using on t/g (and a 175). Works good, but SLOW. I got a used spinner, but didn't have jets. Just wondered what goes on it. I put 8002 on, but wasn't sure what to go with.

Yeah, I'm not sure what do expect. It has been kind kept cleaned regularly, but the grout just hasn't gotten the attention it has needed in a while.
